Singapore comes alive every year on National day. We see the island turn red and white, mainly because of the flags waving from the houses, buildings, and cars. A lot of people go out on the streets to watch the parade and join a lot of public events happening from day to night. At nightfall, they sit and watch the dazzling pyrotechnics display in Merlion Park.
If you’re one of the thousands who celebrated National Day like that, then you must be exhausted… really exhausted.
In that case, what you need is some good old fashioned rest and relaxation before you come back to work. Here’s our Beauty Insider approved ways of pampering yourself from head to toe!
Here’s our Beauty Insider approved ways of pampering yourself from head to toe!
Step 1: Indulge in a Spa-like Bath
Make your next soak in the tub even more worthwhile with bath bombs and tartlettes. Just throw it in a tub of warm water and watch as it fizzes into lovely colour combinations. Expect an explosion of natural scents which invigorates your senses in a whole new level.
No tub? No problem. You can fancy a personal body scrub at home. Most bath scrubs available in the market, whether it’s sugar-, salt-, or coffee-based, promise to exfoliate and moisturise your skin. But you should know that salt scrubs are more abrasive than the sugar scrubs. Use coarse salt scrubs when you want to effectively remove the layer of dead skin cells from your body. Sugar scrubs are milder and can be used to moisturise and nourish your face. If you want to reveal your skin’s natural glow, treat yourself with a coffee scrub. Coffee is a natural antioxidant thus it can rejuvenate your skin.
Step 2: Nourish your Hair
You expose your hair to a lot of stress such as overstyling and pollution. You should use a shampoo which nourishes your scalp as well as your hair strands. Start by lathering your product on your palms. Massage the shampoo lightly from your scalp, roots, and down to the tips of your hair. Allow the shampoo’s formula to coat the hair strands completely before rinsing it. Never use hot water in rinsing your hair.
Step 3: Apply Essence and rest with a Sheet Mask on
A lot of Singaporeans buy and use skin care products that promise the poreless beauty of Korean superstars. The 10-step Korean face care might help you achieve this, but it promotes the use of too many products. There are chances that the formulas of the products you use won’t work well together and cause irritation.
We at Beauty Insider wants you to trim it down to the basics: the essence and sheet mask. The essence is the hybrid of a toner and a serum which repairs and hydrates your skin cells. After that, you can put on a sheet mask with formulas that correct your skin imperfections. Chill for 15-20 minutes and allow your skin to absorb the nutrients of the mask. Not to mention, putting a sheet mask on induces a quiet and meditative time which is good for your mental health.
Step 4: Clean your Nails
A complete manicure and pedicure will be nice. But if you can’t visit your favourite nail salon today, you can sit on the couch and file your nails. Cut your nails short to avoid any breakage. Longer nails make it hard for anyone to use their fingertips. Use a file with a higher grit number in shaping a round or square end.
Step 5: Smooth and soften your hands
For flawless-looking, smooth-feeling hands, use a hand cream. Choose a product that moisturises the skin without leaving a sticky feel. The skin of the hands is thicker than that of your face, so it’s okay to apply hand creams more than once in a day. It’s best done at night before your beauty sleep.
Aside from enhancing your appearance, rewarding yourself with a complete beauty regimen boosts your confidence. Having a clear skin, soft hands, well-kept nails, shiny hair, and more makes you feel like a million bucks. Feeling good about yourself is an advantage to your career and your personal life. So, invest time and money for yourself. Be sure to use skin, body, and hair care products that are good for you. Check out other people’s beauty reviews before buying the product for the first time.
