5 Ways to Use Avocado for Skin Care


Avocado has heaps of benefits for your body, and can be used as a skin care ingredient as well. Rich in fat and protein, avocadoes contain healthy fats are monounsaturated fats which are good for our heart. It also contains 60% more potassium than banana.

Avocado also is a good source of fiber, folic acid, vitamin B6, iron, copper and magnesium. Avocado contains vitamins A, D and E which have absorbs easily into our skin. Regular intake of this superfood is good for health and skin.

Avocado oil is useful for removing sun damage or age spots on skin. It softens the skin and does wonders on damaged, undernourished and dehydrated skin.

Here are 5 simple avocado recipes you can add to your skin care routine:

Avocado for puffed eyes

Cut avocado into slices and place it under each eye for 20 minutes. You will be amazed at how it soothes your eyes.

Avocado eye cream

Make an eye cream by mixing 5 drops of almond oil with 3 slices of avocado. Blend this mixture and dab it around your eyes. Keep it on for 5 minutes before rinsing away.

Alternatively, you may mix 1/4 cup avocado oil with 1/4 cup aloe vera gel. Other suitable oils are grape seed and sesame oil.

Avocado facial mask

This facial mask is extremely effective on dry skin. Mash half a ripe avocado and apply it on your face for 15mins. You can add 1 teaspoon of olive oil for extra moisturizing effect. Rinse off with warm water.

Smooth and beautiful hands with avocado

Make a paste by mixing 1/4 peeled & smashed avocado, 1 egg white, 2 tablespoons of oatmeal and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Apply this paste on your hand and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse it with warm water and pat it dry.

Avocado scrub

Use a small bowl to mix 2 teaspoons of flax seeds and1/2 a mashed banana. Scoop the banana and flax seed with avocado peel. Massage this scoop gently on your face in circular motion. Rinse it with warm water and pat dry.
